The EU New Toy Safety Directive which gets many concerns will be implemented officially on July 20 in 2011 . The regulation is said to be the strictest one currently in the world and it has a great influence upon the cost rise of export and profit shrink of Yiwu toy industry . Recently experts of toy quality improvement from the National Daily Commodities Quality Supervision and Inspection Center have provided point -to - point service for toy enterprises in Yiwu and helped them with technological improvement . The implementation of new regulation leads to the soar of inspection fares . The export of a toy enterprise in Yiwu reached 12 million dollars last year with over 50% to the European Union, whose inspection cost will increase by 100 thousand yuan per year in accordance with the new regulation . Yiwu is one of the largest toy distribution bases in China and there are over 2,
000 toy booths in the International Trade Mart with an annual sales volume of over 4 billion yuan . The EU-oriented toy enterprises in Yiwu mainly engage in OEM,whose profit margin was further compressed with the price growth of raw material, cost rise of labors and improving export standard because the export quotation couldn’t catch up with the rise of cost . At the same time, the quality awareness of toy enterprises in Yiwu is strengthening and some have inspection equipment as well as professionals to ensure the quality security from design to raw materials .
